One grocery store for homes and restaurant kitchens: building Blinxo in Goa

Pack sizes from 500g to 20kg, prices that follow the daily market and next-morning kitchen delivery — how we designed Blinxo's online store so both households and restaurants can order easily.

Blinxo supplies fresh vegetables, exotic produce and fruits across Goa — to households, and to restaurant and hotel kitchens. Those two customers order very differently. A family wants a kilo of tomatoes; a hotel kitchen wants twenty. Our job was to build one online store that works for both without making either feel like an afterthought.

Designing around how kitchens actually order

Every product comes in its own pack sizes, from 500g up to 20kg, and the price updates as you choose one. Fruits can be sold by the piece or by weight, whichever suits the product. That one decision removes most of the back-and-forth that usually happens over the phone with wholesale buyers.

The shop can be searched, sorted and filtered by category, price and rating, with clear categories for vegetables, fruits, sprouts and micro greens, and exotics for hotel and restaurant menus.

Being honest about fresh produce

Fresh produce follows daily market rates, and pretending otherwise causes disputes later. The store says so upfront in a clear note. Ordering rules are just as plain: order today for next-morning delivery, with urgent orders delivered the same evening.

A dedicated path for restaurant partners

Restaurants and hotels get their own section that explains Blinxo's supply promise to kitchens. Business buyers see that they are a priority, not just a large household order, and households aren't confused by wholesale detail they don't need.

Built for daily use on a phone

Delivery location, order tracking and sign-in sit in the header, because repeat customers come back to do exactly those things. The store is built with Next.js, Tailwind CSS and Mantine UI on a Node.js and MySQL back end, with Razorpay for payments.

Lessons for B2B and B2C ecommerce

If one store serves both consumers and businesses, let the product model carry the difference — pack sizes, pricing rules and delivery promises — rather than building two separate shops. Then give business buyers a page that speaks to them directly.
